In the “Assignments” tab, you will find the Source-Based Essay, Inquiry-Based Essay and the Composition of the Two Genres.
The three course learning outcomes I improved on are the following.
- Locate research sources (including academic journal articles, magazine and newspaper
articles) in the library’s databases or archives and on the Internet and evaluate them for
credibility, accuracy, timeliness, and bias. - Explore and analyze, in writing and reading, a variety of genres and rhetorical situations.
- Recognize and practice key rhetorical terms and strategies when engaged in writing situations.
- Develop strategies for reading, drafting, collaborating, revising, and editing.
I have improved in the first area through my Inquiry-Based Essay where I used a variety of sources (news articles, journal papers) to support my claim in favor of drug liberalization.
I engaged in the second area as I wrote my composition in the two genres (PowerPoint presentation and news article).
I’ve improved in the third area through my first assignment, the Source-Based Essay, where I studied the “tone, audience, purpose, genre and stance” of a text.
I improved in the fourth area through noting the criticism of my peer-review.
I did not improve on:
- Understand and use print and digital technologies to address a range of audiences.
as there wasn’t necessarily a way for me to improve on these skills through the assignments.
